Love Birds DIY

Heart shaped candy, heart shaped jewelry, heart shaped pizza...pretty much everything is better when it's shaped like a heart! It's February y'all, the month of love! And cutesy Cupid-approved crafting!

Sophie has just learned the meaning of the word romantic which she tries to incorporate into conversation when it's applicable. She always uses it in the right context and is usually shot down by her apparently bitter and cynical little sister.

Sophie: Eloise, isn't this show sooo romantic? That boy is in love with that girl. Awwwwww

Eloise: No Sophie! NO 'mantic!

Hmm maybe by the time next Valentine's Day rolls around, Eloise will warm up to the idea of romance and such! However, Eloise is all about the crafting. As soon as I set up any kind of supplies I plug in the glue gun, she asks right away to help.

Here's a super quick and easy ( and Eloise approved!) craft that we are making for our friends and cousins. And chances are, you might already have most of the supplies on hand! I did all the glueing and the girls had a blast filling theses birdies with the jelly beans.

Love Birds DIY

What you'll need

-glue gun and glue sticks
-plastic ornament
-small candies
-two sheets coloured cardstock
-heart shaped paper punch (optional)

1. Create 4 different sized hearts; 2 large and 2 medium hearts for the wings, 1 medium and 1 small heart for the face.

2. Glue the 2 medium hearts on to the large hearts. Also the small heart on a different medium heart.

3. Using a pen, create eyes and a beak on the small heart. (I cut a teeny tiny beak out of paper for our lovebirds.)

4. Using the glue gun, attach the "face" heart in the middle of the ornament. Then attach the "wings" on either side of the face.

5. Fill ornament with candy.

6. Add string.

7. Using a thin rectangular piece of paper or a tag, pen a Valentine's greeting or saying.

There you have it! Happy Making!
